AMANAY

Amanay was born in 2022 but its members have participated in youth activities much earlier in time. Our board is composed of diverse profiles and have in common a serious compromise to non formal education, youth participation just as innovative ways of collaboration. Based in the Spanish Island of Fuerteventurna we have a clear focus: isolated youngsters that identify with risk vulnerability risks or rural areas challenges. All this on top of being the largest Island in the Canary Islands which already fights against ultra-peripheral contexts.
Our targets are different age groups of young people. We deliver tailored activities for:
-
Families and children(4-12 years)
-
Elementary students (6-12 years)
-
Teenagers (12-18)
-
Youngsters (18 -30)
-
Young adults (30-35)
We also coordinate a local network of small youth organisations and youth collectives on different topics such as leisure alternatives, videogaming, music and heritage within our island and beyond. This way we always have enriching collaborations that make our projects and activities as diverse and interesting as youngsters request us. At the same level of our Executive Board we have our Young Advisory Council composed of youth from all parts of the island who propose ideas and also volunteer to lead our projects.
The main themes we work on which we work on are:
-
Youth empowerment through creativity and arts
-
Community development and wellbeing
-
International volunteering
-
Environmental actions
-
Employability and new skills
-
Logistics and Community management for different projects locally executed.

Our themes can be developed through different formats. As mobility is a limitation all across our Island, we try to go where young people are and connect them into little communities with which we do concrete activities always preceded by emotional wellbeing awareness regardless of the topic. Secondly, we organise all day long sessions on dedicated priority topics where we invite experts through different workshops gathering youth from all over the island. Finally, we develop one week long Erasmus Plus related activities along with summer camps. In this format we do lots of non formal education and teambuilding activities while we visit the most important and beautiful landmarks of Fuerteventura.
Regarding our international experience we have addressed diverse topics such as:
-
Paint a Rainbow (France, Romania): LGTBQ+ youth empowerment)
-
AI for Young Entrepreneurships (Italy, Turkey): digital skills for employability
-
Planting Ideas on Stage (Poland, Turkey, Czech Republic): Environmental awareness through arts and theatre.
-
Draw you Life (France, Rumania): Exploring beyond the role of LGBTQ+ youth
